At Houston Methodist, the Senior (Sr.) Application Developer position is responsible for planning, analyzing, designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining mobile, standalone, or Internet/Intranet applications offered by the department, as directed by management. This position is responsible for the implementation of security and the performance monitoring of applications. The Sr Application Developer position reviews and redesigns existing applications as needed, implements new applications with database and inter-system connectivity and assists in the technical management of applications and servers, including software installation, configuration, testing, and file management. This position works in conjunction with other team members in the development of software with emphasis on programming, testing, and implementation of applications across varied layers and platforms. The Sr Application Developer position acts as or assists the Technical Lead in developing the architecture, design, and implementation of software applications.

- Engages and interfaces with all stakeholders within or outside the organization. Develops relationships and engage in regular communications within the department, IT and the organization at large.
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responds promptly to internal and external customer requests.
- Mentors and guides team members in achieving standards set by management to achieve high quality of software produced.
- Leads discovery and analysis phase of projects and efforts. Leads requirements elicitation workshops to document business case/scope/plan/business/function requirements including specifications for package solutions and/or software development.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develops and designs applications that utilize set standards to ensure the highest quality.
- Ensure written software is tested and meets the expectations of the stakeholder per previously discussed and accepted requirements.
- Executes daily, iteration and project-level tasks on time and within committed timeframes.
- Leads the design and development of assigned projects.
- Leads small and mid-sized projects.
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Identifies cost saving or revenue opportunities. Utilizes department resources and supplies effectively.
- Manages time effectively to meet established and committed deadlines.
GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Pursues knowledge of new technologies and methodologies that improve productivity, workflow, production, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Seeks out innovative technologies that provide solutions to new ideas, trends, and concepts.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or similar
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Seven years developing or supporting software applications
- Healthcare industry experience preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS - PREFERRED
- MCSD - Microsoft Certified Solutions Dev (Microsoft) -- or other pertinent certification preferred AND
- Marketo certification preferred as appropriate to assigned department
