Job Summary

Responsible for accurate receipt, documentation and disposition of merchandise, both stock and non-stock shipped to the HM Distribution Center. Performs routine tasks associated with delivery acceptance, physical verification and electronic receipt into the materials management system and/or related databases. Assists in processing PO returns to vendors through dedicated shipping accounts and ancillary software applications. Must be certified to operate an electric “walkie”/rider pallet jack and narrow aisle industrial fork lift.

PEOPLE         20%

  1. Assists warehouse management and buyer with resolving any identified discrepancies for orders processed.

2.    Provides assistance to Distribution Liaison and Inventory Logistics Specialist as needed.


SERVICE        30%

  1. Provides status for inquiries on goods received or in process to order fulfillment and inventory control teams as needed.
  2. Stocks all goods through safe operation of material handling equipment (forklift) and/or manual methods.



  1. Ensures all stock is monitored and replenished throughout shift as needed.
  2. Completes daily equipment checklist and reports any repair issues.


FINANCE       20%

  1. Accurately documents receipt through electronic entry in to materials management application (PeopleSoft/MARS) and files all appropriate documentation.
  2. Performs assigned duties for monthly and bi-annual cycle counts/inventories in order to maintain financial integrity for all items stocked within the Distribution Center.



  1. Maintains current knowledge of logistics industry practices for small carrier, LTL and OTR shipments.
  2. Shows an acceptable level of knowledge for all outbound shipping practices and the freight management program requirements when tasked with this responsibility.

High School diploma or GED equivalent required.



Five years experience working in a material handling environment required.

Must have direct experience in receipt and shipping processes. Prior experience in a healthcare product distribution or related industry preferred.



Must be certified in the operation of powered material handling equipment (Pallet Jack/Forklift) or able to acquire within 60 days of employment to comply with OSHA workplace standards.




Sound knowledge of current logistic practices and procedures with specifics to receipt and shipping. Proficient in the use of network-based (MMIS) materials management software and other related database applications. Above average oral and written communication skills, demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with management, clients and co-workers. Must pass a basic math and literacy test upon hire.


  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
