Houston Methodist Research Institute was formed in 2004 to rapidly and efficiently translate discoveries made in the laboratory and the clinic into new diagnostics, therapies and treatments. The research institute was created to provide the infrastructure and support for these endeavors, and to house the technology and resources needed to make innovative breakthroughs in important areas of human disease. A 440,000 square foot building dedicated to research, the research institute houses over 1,150 staff members, 270 principal investigators and has more than 600 ongoing clinical trials.
We are seeking motivated postdoctoral fellows to study molecular regulation of immune memory responses to virus infections in our NIH funded projects. We are focusing on the development and regulation of memory T cells and memory B cells by autophagy and novel transcriptional regulators. We are using molecular, biochemical, and imaging strategies, as well as gene targeting approaches in cell lines and animal models to study the genes that are essential for the development and maintenance of immune memory cells induced by vaccines. This post-doctoral position will provide an ideal transition step leading to independent funding and academic positions. Applicants with experience in molecular biology/cloning, immunology and animal studies are encouraged to apply. This post-doctoral fellowship will provide the opportunity to apply cutting-edge techniques to study the molecular biology of immune memory against infections.
