Houston Methodist Research Institute was formed in 2004 to rapidly and efficiently translate discoveries made in the laboratory and the clinic into new diagnostics, therapies and treatments.  The research institute was created to provide the infrastructure and support for these endeavors, and to house the technology and resources needed to make innovative breakthroughs in important areas of human disease.  A 540,000 square foot building dedicated to research, the research institute houses over 1,500 staff and trainees, 277 principal investigators and has more than 840 ongoing clinical trials.


Job Summary

Assesses and qualifies patients for research study, collects patient data pertaining to study and enters into system.  Monitors patient health for serious adverse events (SAE) and reports SAEs, if necessary.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compile patient information, process, document and enter accurate information following established procedures.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to customer complaints, inquires and requests for information and coordinate appropriate follow-up calls and/or appointments.
  • Assists Administration with records and file maintenance.  Itemizes and sends study materials to storage.
  • Maintains working knowledge of the research process and in the conduct of IRB approved research protocols.  Follows ICH/GCP guidelines.
  • Assists Research Nurses with subject recruitment as necessary.
  • Maintains supplies as necessary for outpatient area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates’ degree or some college required. Bachelors’ degree preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 0-2 years of clinical research related experience required
  • Data entry experience required

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED

CCRC or CCRP preferred.

 

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Knowledge of cardiovascular, coronary care, cardiac cath lab and clinical research required.

  • Requires effective communication skills.

  • Requires effective time management skills

  • Requires ability to understand and implement protocols.

  • Requires experience with computer database management.

  • Requires Microsoft Office skills.

  • Must be a self-motivated individual with the ability to think critically and work independently.

  • Requires strong interpersonal skills

     

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Extended periods of walking and standing may be required.
  • Lifting, pushing or pulling required (minimum 50 lbs.)
