The RN III is a staff nurse, who as an advanced clinician functions at the Proficient level according to Benner`s model of clinical practice. The RN III provides direct patient care and is considered an expert in a specialty. The RN III assists in coaching and mentoring department staff in areas of clinical and professional practice. The RN III assumes leadership responsibilities with high level contributions at the bedside, unit, service line, and across the institution. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to leading unit and shared governance activities, serving as charge nurse, assessing unit needs related to practice and improvement opportunities, coordinating unit education and serving as a clinical resource for both unit and hospital staff. Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelors Degree required 10 CEU`s annually (5 within specialty).
At least 3 years` experience required, with 1 year in specialty
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED
Registered Nurse with current Texas license Basic Life Support (BLS), certification must be approved by the American Heart Association. Other certifications as required by unit/service Magnet Recognized Certification in applicable clinical specialty
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
1. Must be able to perform skills and competencies as defined in orientation checklist and annual departmental competency checklist if applicable.
2. Basic computer skills .
3. Must be able to write and speak effectively in English Competencies, skills, training as listed in Policy NU-903, Competence of Nursing Staff and HR 07 Competency Assessment
