PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties and Responsibilities are cross-referenced to Houston Methodist’s Pillars of Excellence and will be transferred to the Performance Evaluation.
Promotes a positive work environment and leads the team to be dynamic and a focused work unit that actively helps one other to achieve optimal department results. Role models to team members effective communication skills, assisting in their development of such skills
Leads development for hospital-wide and service line-specific marketing and communication plans, in collaboration with HMSJ administration, clinical leaders and HM corporate marketing and communications directors.
Partners with HM corporate in creating and managing web content plan for HMSJ, online marketing campaigns and the enhancement of editorial content/graphics for relevant local web pages.
Represents and engages HMSJ in external relations activities in the community and at chamber events.
Serves as the primary HMSJ contact for contract design and writing resources, media representatives and other external marketing suppliers, as well as HM corporate marketing and communication team.
Responsible for the planning, development and implementation of HMSJ marketing and promotional campaigns, such as local print, direct mail, and consumer/patient events to drive preference and interest in HMSJ.Evaluates marketing plans and campaign results for success.
Leads, manages and participates in the planning and implementation of all internal communication efforts, customer service relations, and events; including but not limited to: health fairs, seminars, outreach events, chamber activities, open house and other hospital events.
Partners with corporate PR and HMSJ executive team on the management of corporate communications, including press release writing/distribution.
Serves as Public Information Officer in event of media crises, collaborating with corporate PR and communicating approved messages to media.
Supervises guest services employees at HMSJ.
Coordinates with HM corporate marketing to ensure marketing/communications are on par with System strategy and brand.
Directs creative work with contracted freelancers as well as through corporate creative services team.
Develops annual marketing budget and manages approved expenses in alignment with budget parameters.
Supports business development projects and analysis through collateral, promotional items and other support as needed.
Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize tasks for self and other support staff.
Manages the creation of customized content and production of HMSJ publications, including Leading Medicine in West Houston/Katy.
Seeks opportunities to expand learning beyond baseline competencies with a focus on continual development as a Marketing/Community Relations Manager.

Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
5 years of experience with a primary focus in marketing and may also include: public relations, corporate communications, and/or journalism.
2 years of management level experience.
Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Maptitude, and Map Point tools a plus.
