Serves as the editor/writer for corporate communications for the CEO and other Houston Methodist leadership, including talking points, emails, speeches, letters and other employee communications. The senior writer/editor will focus his/her work on proactive and reactive internal communications regarding Houston Methodist. This work involves urgent and strategic employee communications as well as communications aimed at other internal and external audiences. The senior writer/editor works collaboratively with members of the Public Relations office, the marketing team, Human Resources as well as health professionals throughout Houston Methodist.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
PEOPLE –50 %
1.Partners with leaders to develop communication plans that deliver a consistent message regarding with the strategic goals and objectives of the organization. (EF)
2. Provides strategic advise as requested.
3.Works collaboratively with leaders throughout the organization and across all campuses, including subject matter experts in administration, clinical and research to produce compelling communication content that advances the Houston Methodist brand and values. (EF)
SERVICE – 30 %
1.Provides timely response to requests from exectutives for communication needs (EF)
2.Serves as primary writer for the CEO and other executives as necessary. Writes speeches, emails, letters, talking points and press releases as needed. (EF)
3.Prepares weekly executive newsletter and posting information on the intranet (EF)
4.Writes and/or edits HR communications to promote organization wide events and employee engagement activities and total rewards benefits.

1.Stay current with industry best practices and implement strategies to increase employee engagement, including helping to establish a new Intranet.

Requires bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations or other related field
Requires a minimum of 10 years writing and editing experience in corporate communications, or journalism
