Job Summary

POSITION SUMMARY

The Web Copywriter produces clear, concise and engaging content for Houston Methodist digital marketing initiatives- including the main website, email campaigns, blog posts, social media and digital ads. This individual is equally skilled at making health care information understandable to everyday people and engaging readers with compelling stories about the individuals who deliver and receive care each day. Above all, this individual knows that writing is only worth reading if it is enriching, useful and meaningful to the intended audience. Therefor the Web Copywriter excels at delivering sharp headlines and strong copy that people really want to read.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

PEOPLE – 30%

1.    Work closely with subject matter experts to develop strong, clear and concise writing that appeals to the intended audience and champions the Houston Methodist brand.

2.    Collaborate with designers to develop effective content across digital channels and formats.

 

FINANCE – 5%

  1. Update existing content to deliver even greater value
  2. Continuously apply learnings and best practices to improve efficiency of content development and deployment process.

 

QUALITY/SAFETY – 25%

  1. Ensure writing is consistent in quality, tone, and style
  2. Meet writing and content development deadlines to ensure quick turnarounds in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  3. Act as a brand steward, ensuring all messaging and copy is within brand voice and editorial guidelines

 

SERVICE – 30%

  1. Develop concepts and content for a wide variety of projects, including but not limited to social media, email, display advertising, webpage copy, white papers, case studies and video scripts
  1. Colaborate with wider marketing team and stakeholders throughout the organization to conceptualize, develop and/or revise content that meets expressed strategic goals

 

GROWTH/INNOVATION – 10%

  1. Understand consumer personas and develop content aligned to each stage of the patient/caregiver journey
  2. Keep up with best practices in digital user experience and content marketing, sharing relevant ideas with the team and implementing where appropriate.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, literature, marketing, public relations or related field.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Three years experience performing related work
  • Must possess professional web copywriting exp.; health care writing experience preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED

 

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLSAND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Ability to work closely with designers to ensure a strong integration of copy and concept
  • Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with copywriters, designers, subject matter experts and marketers
  • Ability to work both independently of and cooperatively with team members
  • A thorough knowledge of contemporary editorial and web practices.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
