Houston Methodist The Woodlands will be the eighth in the Houston Methodist system, offering The Woodlands community a full-service, acute care hospital with many of the same services as our flagship hospital in the Texas Medical Center. The $380 million campus will feature a new 187-bed, 470,000-square-foot facility. 

Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital, located at the intersection of TX 242 and I-45, is scheduled to open in July 2017. Construction includes a 150,000-square-foot medical building, which opened March 2016. The Medical Office Building 1 includes a Breast Care Center, Cancer Center & Infusion Center, Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Wellness Services, Outpatient Laboratory and Therapy, in addition to multi-specialty physician practices.

  1. Operates, maintains and repairs CUP equipment under general supervision.  This includes balancing & managing load of utility consumption to maximize equipment efficiency and life.  (EF)
  2. Provides detailed information to relief operators at shift change, including, but not limited to, planned maintenance activity status, equipment status, and any equipment operating outside normal tolerances. (EF)



  1. Conducts periodic readings of assigned equipment, entering pertinent information on equipment performance to comply with hospital and code requirements.  Appropriately reacts to unusual readings or activities and informs CUP leadership of actions taken.  (EF)
  2. Follows all safety rules while on the job.  Reports accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards.





  1. Performs preventive maintenance and equipment repairs utilizing hospital procedures, manufacturer equipment manuals, proper tools and techniques.(EF)

High School diploma or GED equivalent. Graduate certificate from an accredited engineering school with at least two years practical experience OR a Texas Department of Labor Diploma showing completion of a 3 year course as an apprentice engineer.



Five years practical experience as a Stationary Engineer, with at least three years as a certified Stationary Engineer.



Current City of Houston 1st grade certification as a Stationary Engineer.




1.    Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing concepts, standards and instructions to others.  Ability to build and sustain interpersonal relationships.  Functional knowledge of the following building systems:


  • Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing operations
  • Building Automation Systems
  • Life Safety Systems
  • Emergency Power Systems
  • Structural Systems


  1. Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
  2. Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.



Central Plant environment.  Temperatures vary between hot and cold in a non air-conditioned environment.  This position is required to participate in the Emergency Response Team.
