Houston Methodist The Woodlands will be the eighth in the Houston Methodist system, offering The Woodlands community a full-service, acute care hospital with many of the same services as our flagship hospital in the Texas Medical Center. The $380 million campus will feature a new 187-bed, 470,000-square-foot facility. 

Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital, located at the intersection of TX 242 and I-45, is scheduled to open in July 2017. Construction includes a 150,000-square-foot medical building, which opened March 2016. The Medical Office Building 1 includes a Breast Care Center, Cancer Center & Infusion Center, Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Wellness Services, Outpatient Laboratory and Therapy, in addition to multi-specialty physician practices.


Job Summary

Under the direction of the Manager of EVS, the EVS Lead is responsible for leading team members within a designated area of responsibility. EVS includes all housekeeping, linen distribution, conference room set-up’s and related functions.  Responsible for insuring quality and performance levels meet established standards of performance.  May also be responsible for certain aspects of scheduling and supply ordering and requisitioning.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

PEOPLE - 20%

SERVICE - 25%

 

  1. Coordinates daily EVS operations within designed area of responsibility.
  2. May be responsible for and assist with essential functions of an EVS Tech I and EVS Tech II.

 

QUALITY/SAFETY - 25%

 

  1. Resolves concerns or complaints with a sense of urgency by initiating appropriate recovery strategies.
  2. Understands continuous quality improvement processes.
  3. Conducts daily quality inspections and customer interviews to proactively identify opportunities for improvement, build relationships and measure quality.
  4. Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace.

 

FINANCE - 0%

GROWTH/INNOVATION - 25%

  1. Assists the Manager with coaching and training of EVS employees. 
  2. Provides leadership that elicits employee participation in continuous improvement and empowers them to make decisions that consistently meet the strategic and operational objectives of the department. 
  3. Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and competence by adherence to hospital and departmental annual training commitments.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED;  Will consider 2 years of experience in lieu of education.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

One year of experience in housekeeping, patient transportation or linen services preferred.  Progressive leadership experience is also preferred.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Responsible for cleaning safety precautions.
  • Must be able to pass all mandatory in-services and all job specific competency testing.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
  • Will complete all work in a timely fashion, and according to high quality standards
  • Knowledgeable of Housekeeping and Linen Services operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The quality improvement process to consistently identify and initiate service delivery that exceeds customer expectations.
  • Creating a strong team spirit with employees, being a role model, exhibiting proper customer service behaviors, and providing positive and constructive feedback to employees, peers, and management.
  • Understanding future needs of department, growth, market trends, changes in healthcare and the future evolution of the department, and communicating this to the employees.

  • Must be able to quickly prioritize tasks and handle stressful situations in a professional manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to work by continuous walking, bending, lifting and standing.  Must be able to use electronic equipment.  Must be able to lift over 50lbs.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Majority of work will be conducted indoors within the main hospital and medical office buildings.

May be requested to work overtime if needed and rotate shifts if needed, including some holidays and weekends.  Must be able to follow universal precautions and wear protective attire when required.  May include exposure to hazardous chemicals and blood borne pathogens.  Will be utilizing solvents and detergents associated with hospital grade cleaning chemicals.
