Job Summary

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES      1. Financial Management and Operational Reporting:   Assists in the preparation of the annual budget for the department.  Prepares profit and loss statements for clinical departmental divisions utilizing information from departmental billing system and hospital accounting system.  Provides monthly financial reports on clinical operations.  Provides daily cash posting reconciliation report and monthly deposit report for clinical operations.  Reviews revenue projections, budget revisions, etc. for physician practice and for academic department.  Reviews monthly expenditures across all departmental divisions.  Produces monthly financial reports for chairman and administrator, to include monthly report of expenditures, transfer of funds from various support centers.  Assists department administrator and faculty members in developing and managing the clinical/research departmental budget and provides related budgetary and financial reports.  2. Account maintenanceand Reconciliation : Prepares monthly spreadsheets, budget variance reports and reconciliation reports for departmental cost centers.  Develops and maintains procedures for reconciliation process.  Provides necessary reports to individual physicians as requested.  Trains and monitors administrative staff on account reconciliation process and procedures.  Interacts with all levels of personnel within the department, other institutional departments, as well as outside companies to resolve problems/errors or questions regarding basic accounting reconciliation items. 3. Grant and Contracts Management : Prepares spreadsheets, budget variance reports and reconciliation reports for departmental cost centers as needed. Provides financial information and reporting to departmental grant managers as needed.  Prepares grant and contract budget proposals, or participates in their preparations as needed.  Oversees the department`s financial files for all grant and donor funding.  Performs audit review of grant payment status as requested.  Verifies all faculty, staff and research personnel are charged to correct grant sources.  4. Other Special projects as needed.  Represents department in a professional and appropriate manner within institution, as well as externally.  Assists with any departmental needs as required, to include special financial and research reports.  Oversees organizations and maintenanceof departmental files relating to fiscal and budgetary responsibilities and reports.      

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS      BBA, BS or BA with a major in Accounting, or related degree is required.      

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS      Requires 5 years or more financial analysis experience in health care environment.
