SUMMARY: The LVN must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide nursing care appropriate to the ages of patients served. Provides nursing care to patients in an organized and effective manner under the guidance and supervision of a Physician or an experienced Registered Nurse. The LVN embodies the behaviors associated with the Leadership, Art and Science of Nursing (identified in Duties and Responsibilities). The LVN practices Relationship Centered Care in concert with The Methodist Hospital I CARE values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence and ServicePride standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs all skills, functions, and responsibilities of a Licensed Vocational Nurse with a high degree of confidence and expertise. Demonstrates competence in the clinical skills required for patient care. 2. Involves the patient, family, and/or significant others in patient care and patient teaching. 3. Seeks guidance as needed when performing nursing skills by utilizing resource persons, policy and procedures manuals, or other references on standards of care. 4. Performs drug accountability and maintains inventory of related supplies in appropriate areas. 5. Maintains strict confidentiality of patients, employees, clinic and hospital information at all times. 6. Performs other duties as assigned. Demonstrates ICARE Values. Follows all safety rules while on the job.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Requires satisfactory completion of an accredited LVN program.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 1 year of experience as an Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: Current license to practice as an Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the State of Texas required. Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: License to practice as an Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the State of Texas.
WORKING : Patient Care Units Conditions
Lifting, pushing, pulling required (minimum 50Ibs.)
Extended periods of walking and standing required
Universal precautions required
Significant potential for exposure to latex.
