This is a PRN Position - Pearland Location
Performs all repetitive tests, which necessitates knowledge of laboratory techniques and instruments, and the ability to recognize factors, which directly affect procedures and results.
PATIENT AGE GROUP SERVED
For technicians performing Bleeding Times and Phlebotomy, all age group competencies must be met.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
EF 1. Processes specimens to be evaluated.
EF 2. Performs repetitive analyses offered by the laboratory accurately and efficiently according to established procedures. Able to perform phlebotomy if necessary.
EF 3. Maintains accurate and orderly records of tests performed.
EF 4. Performs, evaluates, interprets and documents quality control of equipment and procedures within established guidelines.
EF 5. Performs routine equipment preventive maintenance and minor repair.
EF 6. Recognizes problems, identifies causes, and takes corrective action and consults a medical technologist or manager if no preset criteria are available.
EF 7. Generally works well with others making contributions to the work effort as a whole. Facilitates problem resolution. Communication to promote both efforts is clear and professional.
EF 8. Readily implements new and revised procedures.
EF 9. Demonstrates the components of the I CARE values statement.
10. Demonstrates high standards in providing customer service/patient satisfaction.
EF 11. Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards.
EF 12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Must have an associates degree in a related field.
No experience required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED
Must meet the eligibility requirements and/or be certified by the Board of Registry (ASCP, NCA or discipline specific registry)
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Knowledge in processes and procedures and skills of the specific work area.
Ability to effectively communicate with verbal and written communication.
