JOB SUMMARY

At Houston Methodist, the Audio/Visual Coordinator position is responsible for overseeing Houston Methodist (HM) audio/visual (a/v) needs both in the HM Conference Center and off-campus as requested. This position develops and hosts a/v training sessions for end-users; assisting with a/v expansion of services and overall equipment management. The Audio/Visual Coordinator position coordinates video production, videoconferencing, photography, etc., for Houston Methodist system special events and conference services. This position serves as the subject matter expert for a/v technical support, resulting in the delivery of exceptional service and adherence to standards of practice for optimal patient safety, quality outcomes, and customer service.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

PEOPLE - 20%

  1. Responds to routine inquiries, requests, and issues from the departments. Communicates to departments about any issues or delays, to notify staff, to promote both work efforts and problem resolution is clear and professional. (EF)
  2. Renders assistance and support to staff in the performance of their duties. Role models effective communication skills, assisting in team members’ development of such skills. (EF)
  3. Interacts positively and effectively with patients, guests, and internal customers. Serves as a team resource for customer service decisions for problem-solving, setting/communicating delays. Handles basic issues as they pertain to the department, and acts as liaison in the absence of Management. (EF)
  4. Fosters a positive and constructive teaching environment by engaging co-workers in learning opportunities that are valuable and in alignment with business objectives. Initiates contributions towards improvement of department scores for turnover/retention/employee engagement, i.e. peer-to-peer accountability. (EF)

SERVICE - 30%

  1. Coordinates video production, videoconferencing, photography, etc. Maintains equipment inventory and equipment check-out process. (EF)
  2. Manages a/v requests including set-up and operation. Oversees equipment maintenance and repair schedule. (EF)
  3. Develops and executes a/v training including live sessions, laminated cards and print on-demand instructions. (EF)
  4. Partners with various departments including but not limited to Conference Services, CME and Special Events, to oversee technology component of each event. (EF)

QUALITY/SAFETY - 15%

  1. Supports lead coordinator and management to apply protocols and objectives with team members. Contributes ideas towards improving the efficiency and effectiveness of department processes. (EF)
  2. Actively participates in making recommendations for improving working relationships within the department and with other departments. Assists management with improvement of department quality and safety scores, through peer-to-peer accountability. (EF)

FINANCE - 15%

  1. Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. Self-motivated to meet the standards of the Houston Methodist attendance policy. Prioritizes department daily tasks and independently manages time effectively, minimizing incidental overtime. (EF)
  2. Assists management to reduce department overtime and ensure adequate coverage. (EF)

GROWTH/INNOVATION - 20%

  1. Assist with the development of a/v expansion plans. (EF)
  2. Offers innovative solutions through participation in performance improvement hospital projects and activities. Fosters a positive and constructive teaching environment by engaging team members in learning opportunities that are valuable and in alignment with business objectives. (EF)
  3. Seeks opportunities to expand learning beyond baseline competencies with a focus on continual development. Participates in continuing education and in-service programs. Completes and updates the My Development Plan on an on-going basis, including the development of advanced skills. (EF)

Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

o Five years experience in audio/visual technology, production, etc.
