Work Week: M - FHouston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital, located at the intersection of TX 242 and I-45, is scheduled to open in July 2017. Construction includes a 150,000-square-foot medical building, which opened March 2016. The Medical Office Building 1 includes a Breast Care Center, Cancer Center & Infusion Center, Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Wellness Services, Outpatient Laboratory and Therapy, in addition to multi-specialty physician practices.
The CV Technologist is an experienced Technologist who assists with interventional and therapeutic cardiac or electrophysiology procedures including but not limited to peripheral and coronary angioplasty, stents, rotablators, artherectomy, laser, and coronary ultrasound; electrophysiology procedures including ablations and device implantation. The CV Technologist has specialized training with and knowledge of cardiovascular procedures directly related to the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. The CV Technologist must fully capture the concepts of a cardiac/electrophysiology catheterization lab and exercise critical thinking skills in a fast-paced environment, due to rapid changing patient status. Delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to safety standards and guidelines to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service. The Technologist is a member of the direct patient care team. This job requires availability to be on call.

Guides and mentors CV Technicians, Cath Lab RN’s and students to help build confidence in skills, knowledge and abilities.
SERVICE – 30%
Performs interventional and therapeutic cardiac or electrophysiology procedures including but not limited to peripheral and coronary angioplasty, stents, rotablators, artherectomy, laser, and coronary ultrasound; electrophysiology procedures including ablations and device implantation. (EF)
Provides care for the physical needs of patients by executing various Cath Lab concepts to maximize performance. This includes: positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors. Modifies technical factors to achieve desired results and recognizes complications / limitations associated with certain procedures. Proactively identifies how to address these for optimum outcomes. Provides direct assistance to physicians during procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.
QUALITY/SAFETY - 30%
Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly. Properly utilizes patient radiation protection and immobilization during diagnostic procedures. Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with infection control procedures. Complies with job, departmental and hospital safety standards, practices and policies. (EF)
Reports “near misses” and inputs errors promptly into PSN to improve processes and identify trends. Contributes to identification of corrective actions and improvement activities, and contributes to meeting departmental and hospital targets for quality and safety.
Ensures all Cath Lab and imaging equipment has had QC performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use. Reports any malfunctions to management and regularly practices preventive maintenance procedures; calls for service if needed. (EF)
FINANCE - 10%
Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enters charges at the time service is delivered. (EF)
Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks.

If required credential/registry acquired after September 1, 2013, Associates degree required
Completion of Invasive Cardiovascular Technology program recognized by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) highly preferred
At least 3 years’ experience as a Cath Lab Cardiovascular (CV) Technician
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
American Heart Association BLS
Advance Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
