Job Summary

Responsible for evaluating existing processes and configuring systems to improve patient experience, reduce cost and develop best practices within the healthcare delivery system at Houston Methodist. Evaluates and improves on processes through the development and implementation of innovative solutions while maintaining reliable, safe, high-quality patient care. Creates a culture that supports innovative solutions and continuous improvement. As a member of the system quality leadership team, the individual requires a vision for the future of health care and expertise in continuous quality improvement, efficient and effective system processes and professional development.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

PEOPLE (25%)

  1. Provides leadership to multi-disciplinary team responsible for all aspects of system process improvement projects, including planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating program and staff.
  2. Functions as a member of the quality leadership team, participates in the decision-making structures and processes. Effectively collaborates with members of Houston Methodist executive team, management team, employees, and physicians.
  3. Develops and maintains effective communications with key stakeholders to guide process improvements and enhance interdisciplinary collaboration in inpatient services, ambulatory care, service line development and related programs.

 

FINANCE (5%)

1.Leads the development and management of operational, capital, and special project budgets.

2.Meets financial objectives; prepares an annual budget; schedules expenditures; analyzes variances; and initiates corrective actions.

QUALITY/SAFETY (40%)

  1. Establishes process improvement goals, objectives and structure consistent with strategic direction, to guide operations and enhance interdisciplinary collaboration within service lines and related programs.
  2. Designs and implements evidence-bases practices to achieve strategic and operational objectives. Provides strategic leadership to a multi-disciplinary team responsible for improving key business functions focusing on improved efficiency, coordination of services and enhanced clinical outcomes.
  3. Identifies and articulates the common needs and viewpoints of project staff and stakeholders to appropriate decision-making groups, and communication the implications to project changes to system leadership and implements operational changes to address stakeholder needs.

 

SERVICE (15%)

  1. Coordinate training for Lean Six Sigma or other quality improvement methodologies.
  2. Serves on related task forces and committees as assigned.

 

GROWTH/INNOVATION (10%)

  1. Monitors process metrics to validate performance against national and system benchmarks to ensure strategic and operational goals are achieved.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

BS in Process/Systems Engineering or related field; MBA, MHA, MPH, Ph.D. preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

2 years of direct staff management experience

8 years of progressively responsible program management experience in an academic medical center.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED

Project Management Professional (PMP) and Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
