The Financial Information Analyst III is responsible for routine operations of the Department Cost Manager (DCM) and/or the patient/clinical module of the Operations Management Analysis and Reporting (OMAR) System and performing analyses using the OMAR data. The DCM requirements are to build, revise and maintain detailed standard and actual costs for each of the approximate 30,000 intermediate products with the assistance and cooperation of the respective department managers. The Clinical Cost Manager (CCM) requirements are to maintain the reporting structure of the CCM system. The Analyst is also responsible for evaluating the accuracy of the key data elements in the patient database which are used in reporting statistical information in graphical and other presentation formats. The Analyst will also perform analyses using OMAR data for routine monthly reports and for special requests. The Analyst will be cross-trained on how to obtain data for the Hospital scorecards and the Financial Operations Package. The Analyst will also be familiar with the HBSI benchmarking software and the EPSI web-based budgeting software.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Maintain a working knowledge of the mainframe cost accounting system and its relationship to other financial and non-financial systems.
2.Is familiar with the information contained in the hospital patient database and its relationship to other financial and non-financial systems (i.e., Patient Billing, Medical Records).
3.Evaluate the accuracy of defined key data elements in the cost accounting database and bring any variances to the at10tion of the supervisor.
4.Ensure standards are updated on an accurate and timely basis.
5.Generate financial reports and make sure they are accurate and released on a timely basis.
6.Analyze variances found in audits in order to evaluate possible causes and where appropriate, make recommendations regarding corrective action.
7.Recommend, coordinate and perform special projects based upon familiarity with issues of interest to hospital management.
8.Test IT upgrades to the OMAR system to ensure the system is functioning properly.
9.Resolve IT related issues to maintain the integrity of the OMAR system.
10.Keep abreast of updates to reporting processes that might affect OMAR reporting and integrity.
11.Maintain the DCM and CCM reporting structure.
12.Maintain ACTSUMS used for patient activity analysis and reporting.
13.Perform monthly reconciliations regarding the data in the mainframe cost accounting system.
14.Clear monthly rejects to ensure that all applicable data from the various sources are correctly posted to the mainframe cost accounting system.
15.Provide training to new users of the mainframe cost accounting system regarding reporting functions.
16.Updating nightly run sheet for overnight batch processing.
17.Effectively communicate to resolve problems in the most efficient manner.
18.Establish and maintain thorough written documentation and written procedures supporting the operation and use of the mainframe cost accounting system.
19.Continue to cross train on the HBSI system, to provide support when needed during the quarterly statistical and financial reporting process to Solucient.
20.Aid in the HBSI function during special requests.
21.Cross train on the web-based budgeting software, EPSI, in order to assist during the budget process and to run reports based on actual volumes or expenses or payroll information when needed.
22.Become familiar with the sources for the Financial Operations Package in order to assist with gathering the data when required and to assist in proofing the package prior to distribution to the Hospital Leadership Team (HLT).
23.Maintain skills in statistical analysis and other data reduction, and in graphical and other presentation formats.
24.Assist in the budget process as needed.
25.Demonstrates the components of the ICARE values statement.

28.Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards.
29.Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace.
Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a major in Accounting, or related degree is required.
Requires 3-5 years hospital and/or budget and/or cost accounting or analysis experience in computerized accounting environment.
