At Houston Methodist, the Licensing Assistant position is responsible for providing administrative, documentation, logistical and data entry support as well as research, export control compliance, budgeting, license obligation monitoring, negotiating and communication support. Assists with performing scientific background and patent literature searches. Utilizes specialized knowledge in the life sciences to perform the essential functions of this position.

o Bachelor’s degree in a life science
o Masters or Doctoral Degree (PhD) preferred
o Six months experience in a technology transfer office working with intellectual property or legal agreements

o Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles
o Knowledge of intellectual property databases
o Ability to understand complex scientific concepts and translate them into business terms
o Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
o Excellent customer service and communication skills
o Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
o Comptent in Microsoft Office software programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
