Job Summary

SUMMARY     

Provides Police authority for the Hospital`s employees, patients, visitors and property. Provides Police services and aid by enforcing federal and state laws in addition to city ordinances. Provides the most secured environment for our visitors, patients, employees, and community.      

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES     

1. Assist co-workers with patients including but not limited to the ER and registration departments. 

2. Monitors the hospital`s camera and access control systems. 

3. Patrols interior and exterior to maintain the highest level of security. This includes parking areas, making sure doors are locked and enforcing visitor hours where applicable.  4. Provides services for employees, patients and visitor that include escorts, automobile services i.e. jump starts, flat tires, etc.    

5. Must have excellent communications skills with English as a primary language. 

6. Demonstrates the componets of the ICARE values statement and complies with Business Practices standards for performance. 

7. Communicates effectively with patients, family members, co-workers, medical staff and other hospital personnel to contribute to the quality of the procedure and work environment. 

8. Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace.  

9. Demonstrates Service PRIDE Standards.

10. Performs other duties as assigned.       

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS    

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.  Graduate of the Police Academy and/or Education certificate and a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards.      

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS     

Police officers must have completed their Police Department probationary period.  Previous security officer experience required.  Experience in a health care facility preferred.      

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED     

A Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education certificate.       

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED    

1. Must be able to work well with others. 2. Must have some form of restraint training.
