Job Summary


JOB SUMMARY

Facilitates the hospital medicine service line across the HMWB hospital. Collaborates with executive, physician, and nursing leadership for the development and implementation of the service line strategy, driving profitable service line growth, improving processes, marketing initiatives, physician recruitment, while improving physician/hospital alignment.
Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for service line development to include business plan development, market analysis/research, and service-line performance evaluation. In conjunction with entity leadership, evaluates services at respective facilities for scope, depth of service, physician manpower, financial feasibility, and potential expansion.
  • Ensures a system-oriented service-line approach through the effective coordination of resources, standards of care, operating procedures, physician practice and coverage.
  • Ensures development and implementation of effective, ongoing programs to measure, assess, and improve quality of care.
  • Develops and fosters effective collaboration between clinical departments, medical staff leadership, and other affiliated services to ensure an integrated approach to providing care and services.
  • Actively supports facility community efforts, and represents the hospital in the community through participation in community organizations etc.
  • Models, fosters, and encourages a Service Excellence culture.
  • Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or services delivered..
  • Works with leadership to ensure the development of long and short term service-line growth strategies.
  • Routinely audits the service line's competitive position relative to the market area served.
  • Demonstrates and promotes a positive customer service attitude, which encourages quality patient care and enhances the image/reputation of the facility.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
o Masters degree required

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
o Minimum of five years progressive healthcare management experience. Service line management experienced preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
o Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
o Strong proficiency in speaking, presentation skills, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.  Excellent interpersonal skills.
o Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
o Strong organizational/project management skills, excellent critical synthesis and problem-solving skills
o Knowledgeable of adult learning principles
o Well versed in computer skills of the entire Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word)
