Job Summary

SUMMARY:  Provides basic security related services, investigations, personal protection, traffic control assignments, and emergency response services. Represents Public Safety to patients, visitors, physicians, and employees. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  1. Patrols both interior and exterior of Hospital facilities, providing protection to patients, visitors, employees, and assets of the Hospital.  2. Responds to all alarm calls, security problems and requests for service.  3. Monitors all radio communications and provides proper and timely response.  4. Conducts investigations and completes detailed reports.  5. Provides assistance for emergency situations.  6. Demonstrates working knowledge and proper responses for civil disorders, disasters, and severe weather. 7. Identifies safety and fire hazards. Participates as a member of the Fire Brigade.  8. Distributes reports, severe weather bulletins or other documents to various Hospital departments as required.  9. Assists with controlled access to facility through key and electronic lock control systems.  10. Demonstrates the components of the ICARE values statement and complies with Business Practice Standards for performance.  11. Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace. 12. Demonstrates Service PRIDE Standards   13. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.  EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  Sixty approved credit hours in Criminal Justice or related area and/or 2 years security experience.  CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: Valid Texas Driver's License, class C required.           CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:  Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards Certification application must submitted to the state of Texas within the first 5 days of hire date. Proof of submission must be provided to the hospital Security Management. The Texas Commission of Law Enforcement Officer Standards Certification must be obtained within the 1st year of employment, failure to obtain Certification or being declined by the state would result in the employee no longer being qualified for this position. Cardiopulmonary Resucitation (CPR) is required within 90 days of employment.  WORKING : Uniform requirements: Approved uniform described in the Employee Uniform Program. Must wear The Methodist Hospital photo identification badge at all times. Assignments will require work outdoors as well as indoors. Walks or stands for long periods of time.
