Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY

Senior Integration Analyst focuses on work assignments that integrate a variety of applications and systems.  The role participates in and leads interface design activity and helps ensure development standards are maintained.  Integration Analysts develop, test and support a variety of interfaces, with a heavy focus on HL7. Assists Manager and Team Lead by coaching and mentoring other analysts as needed.  The Senior Integration Analyst leads integration efforts on small, medium, and large scale projects.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and Responsibilities are cross-referenced to Houston Methodist’s Pillars of Excellence and will be transferred to the Performance Evaluation.

PEOPLE (20%)

  1. Initiates and maintains positive relationships with key customers and co-workers.
  2. Facilitates team and client meetings and delivers informative, well-organized presentations.
  3. Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions.  
  4. Trains and mentors other team members through both formal and informal methods.

SERVICE (20%)

  1. Utilizes Project Management Methodology as defined by the Houston Methodist IT PMO and applies them consistently
  2. Facilitate working group sessions with other IT teams to facilitate interface design, build and testing.
  3. Sets customer expectations, prioritizes tasks, and delivers solutions on time. 
  4. Continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships and effectively manages client expectations effectively.

QUALITY/SAFETY (20%)

  1. Creates and maintains interface documentation that clearly defines specifications and enhances ability of entire team to provide support for interfaces.
  2. Communicates project progress, results and recommendations through meetings, phone calls, presentations and written reports.
  3. Takes an active role in ensuring quality of team output by actively contributing to code review process and providing guidance to other team members as needed.
  4. Proactively communicates potential project and implementaton issues , plans for resolution,   and produces status updates to all stakeholders.
  5. Establishes project deliverables and timelines for interface tasks to ensure goal attainment within defined parameters.

FINANCE (20%)

  1. Coordinates and provides problem resolution, technical analyses, resource estimates and progress reports for interface activities on assigned projects.
  2. Applies project management methodology standards to communicate and successfully accomplish assigned projects within budget guidelines. 

GROWTH/INNOVATION (20%)

  1. Identifies creative technical solutions to complex system integration challenges.
  2. Reviews and edits requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solution.
  3. Identifies and documents system deficiencies and recommends solutions.
  4. Ensures the creation and completion of project deadlines and schedules

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Programming, Business Administration, or an equivalent field or formal education in related field with professional certifications.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

7+ years of experience in programming or integration of applications.  Healthcare experience preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED

Cloverleaf Level I, Level II, or Level III certification, OR Epic Bridges certification.

Must obtain both Epic Bridges and at least Level I Cloverleaf within 6 months of employment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Thorough knowledge, understanding and experience with Health Level 7 (HL7) message structures (versions 2.2 and 2.3).  Knowledge or familiarity of HL7 configurations for ADT, Results, Orders, and Charges is necessary.
  • Experience with scripting in formats such as KSH and TCL.
  • Basic knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP and FTP.
  • Ability to support Cloverleaf Interface Engine on an AIX platform.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
  • Strong knowledge of Project Management Methodologies and ability to apply them to large scale system implementation
  • Abillity to lead, manage and monitor multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of multidisciplinary clinical and business information systems.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills.
