Job Summary

The TMH Program Director – Centennial Celebration is responsible for successfully executing the vision, strategy and engagement tactics of the Houston Methodist centennial celebration. Position will coordinate ongoing logistics related to event and project planning including working with external vendors and collaborating with organization departments, Houston Methodist Hospital Foundation, Houston Methodist Corporate Marketing and Houston Methodist Human Resources to deliver on specific assignments or events leading up to and including the centennial celebration in 2019.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

PEOPLE - 25%

  1. Convene Houston Methodist centennial celebration committees, organize meetings, and work with volunteer leadership.
  2. Coordinate ongoing logistics related to event and project planning, including working with external vendors and collaborate with organization departments and Foundation, Marketing and Human Resources to deliver on specific assignments or events.

 

SERVICE - 35%

  1. Coordinate all aspects of planning, design, marketing and implementation of centennial celebration activities.
  2. Develop agendas working with appropriate organization offices, provide project updates, and follow  through on ideas and implementation plans.
  3. Coordinate centennial planning with the Campaign for the Second Century and other Houston Methodist priorities. 
  4. Provide post-event, project and overall goal reporting and archiving.

 

QUALITY/SAFETY - 20%

  1. Collaborate with marketing and event consultants/agencies assigned to develop strategic positioning and marketing support and ensure brand-consistency and quality for events.

 

FINANCE - 10%

  1. Assist with management of centennial celebration budget.

 

GROWTH/INNOVATION - 10%

  1. Establish and execute communication plan for the centennial celebration.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in major campaign and event planning, project coordination, communications and marketing, or comparable combination of experiences.
  • Contract negotiation experience.
  • Budgeting experience.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED

  • N/A

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Proficiency in the typical office software and project management tools.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously, adjust priorities when necessary, and accurately estimate the time needed for project completion.
  • Ability to use good judgment and professionalism in dealing with varying and diverse individuals, including faculty, CEOs, donors, board members and patients.
  • Must be strategically-minded in developing overall marketing approaches, while being detail-oriented in implementation.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and have excellent organizational skills and demonstrated follow-through on projects.
  • Must be a team player with good interpersonal skills, a service orientation and the ability to work collaboratively to resolve issues.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Experience preferred in managing committees, board, volunteers and working with various levels of organizational leadership.
  • Familiarity of Houston Methodist and the city of Houston preferred.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
