It is that time of year when I have the privilege of sharing our U.S. News & World Report results. For 2025-26, Houston Methodist Hospital has again been recognized as an Honor Roll hospital, marking our ninth year overall and our seventh year in a row on the list. Houston Methodist Hospital has also been named the No. 1 hospital in Texas for the 14th year.
Four of our entity hospitals also ranked statewide this year, with Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital jumping 14 spots to tie for No. 9 — a remarkable achievement that speaks to the high-quality, safe care we provide. You can find more details on the state and metro area rankings below.
Every year I’m able to share these results, I’m amazed — not by the results but by our people. It is the hard work that we put in daily that enables us to achieve results like these. We never chase awards; we focus on the mission, do our jobs and keep the patient at the center of everything we do. Our commitment to our patients speaks for itself.
U.S. News & World Report ranks various specialties annually. For 2025-26, Houston Methodist Hospital ranked in 10 specialties, with eight in the top 20. It is also the 33rd consecutive year our flagship hospital has had at least one specialty ranked. Here is an alphabetical breakdown of our specialty rankings:
• Cancer — No. 19
• Cardiology, Heart and Vascular Surgery — No. 14
• Diabetes and Endocrinology — No. 10
• Gastroenterology and GI Surgery — No. 7
• Geriatrics — No. 19
• Neurology and Neurosurgery — No. 15
• Obstetrics and Gynecology — No. 10
• Orthopedics — No. 24
• Pulmonology and Lung Surgery — No. 8 (tie)
• Urology — No. 27
We have even more good news to celebrate. As I mentioned earlier, we had another great year of showings among our entity hospitals. Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital and Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital made U.S. News & World Report’s 2025-26 state and metro rankings. Here is the breakdown:
• Houston Methodist Sugar Land ranked No. 8 in Texas and No. 5 in the Houston metro area.
• Houston Methodist Willowbrook tied (three-way) for No. 9 in Texas and ranked No. 6 in the Houston metro area. It is also ranked No. 45 nationally for its diabetes and endocrinology specialty.
• Houston Methodist The Woodlands ranked No. 12 in Texas and No. 7 in the Houston metro area. It also has two specialties ranked nationally: diabetes and endocrinology at No. 47 and cardiology, heart and vascular surgery at No. 47 (a two-way tie).
• Houston Methodist Baytown ranked No. 21 in Texas and No. 9 in the Houston metro area.
We are leading medicine because of each of our dedicated employees. Their commitment to our patients and the work, inventiveness and compassion make all the difference, and I couldn’t be prouder.
