The Departments of Neurosurgery and Medical Oncology are seeking a full-time Neuro-Oncologist (Board certified/eligible) to join their internationally recognized multidisciplinary team in the Houston Methodist Kenneth R. Peak Brain and Pituitary Tumor Treatment Center at Houston Methodist Cancer Center.
The Houston Methodist Kenneth R. Peak Brain and Pituitary Tumor Treatment Center provides patients with brain, spine, and pituitary tumors world-class, personalized neurological and oncological treatment plans based on genetic information, detailed screening of the tumor, and other advanced scientific techniques. We provide a compassionate environment geared toward cutting-edge scientific advances, education and research.
We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to lead neuro-oncology in the setting of a well-funded brain tumor center with cutting-edge minimally invasive surgery and extensive bench to bedside research. Many novel and exciting research protocols are already available, and more are in the pipeline. Responsibilities for this position include inpatient and outpatient management of brain and spinal tumor patients. The candidate should have extensive experience with all aspects of neuro-oncology including clinical trials, and has an opportunity to become the principal investigator on a number of ongoing and new clinical trials. This is an important part of the Peak Center activities.
There is also an opportunity to participate in novel basic research with in vitro and in vivo work with a variety of brain tumors. Ongoing work includes the use of oscillating magnetic fields to treat brain cancer including an international clinical trial, work with immune modulation, development of a selective mitochondrial chemotherapy for glioblastoma, study the metabolome in glioblastomas, meningiomas and pituitary tumors and more.
