At Houston Methodist, the Office of Culture and Engagement (OCE) Program Manager position is responsible for ensuring Houston Methodist has effective and comprehensive culture & engagement programs. This position partners with culture & engagement leadership, Human Resource (HR), Organizational Development (OD), Spiritual Care and operations stakeholders to design and execute program elements that ensure system-wide leadership engagement in and governance of the Houston Methodist (HM) OCE Strategy. The OCE Program Manager position identifies gaps and develops solutions which may include training for executive, mid-level and staff-level employees.
Requirements:
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Effectively builds and leverages relationships with key stakeholders to develop and promote Culture & Engagement (OCE) activities, get buy-in to change efforts, provide ongoing consultation and promote HM goals.
- Partners with team members and the Organizational Development (OD) leadership solutions team to develop a comprehensive training program and assessments for HM employees and key contingent workers within the scope of the OCE strategic objectives.
- Works creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment fostering teamwork, innovation, and excellence. Actively leads program meetings, creates and facilitates classes, providing meaningful contributions that drive decision-making and clearly identifies next steps. Works cross-departmentally to achieve innovative and actionable outcomes.
- Recommends opportunities for improvement of department/program score for patient, employee and community engagement.
- Leads program strategies with key stakeholders and others to ensure department timelines, deliverables, and budgets are met. Serves as a primary resource/subject matter expert and a key liaison to councils and professional groups.
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Collaborates with colleagues, peers, and other stakeholders to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of programs or trainings. Regularly communicates with customers/clients to arrange meetings, confirm program schedules and discuss any program or class problems, ensuring that customers/clients are regularly informed on the status.
- Implements change management strategies to ensure successful execution of the program or class and to improve targeted outcomes. Obtains buy-in to change efforts.
- Partners with management to evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of the assigned program, monitors progress and achievement of objectives and identifies corrective actions as indicated. Provides leadership with decision support needed to make informed strategic decisions and drive improved outcomes.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Identifies key measures to periodically assess program or training outcomes and continuously enhance and improve to drive improved outcomes for the patient and employee experience.
- Implements a plan for launching programmatic elements including training within the focus area, providing support in planning and organizing cross-functional unit activities and committees. Drives strategy and ensures the success of programs and/or assigned sponsorships/events.
- Participates in internal committees and task forces as assigned, ensuring that critical objectives are clearly explained, and action items are appropriately delegated.
- Operationalizes strategic plans with timely execution of deliverables. Tracks the status and coordinates deadlines, identifying potential barriers to progression and implementing solutions/resolutions. Follows up on action items necessary to ensure completion of assignments.
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Effectively manages the scope, schedule and budget of all assigned projects while in process. Monitors year-to-year trends. Identifies cost-saving and waste-elimination opportunities.
GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Reviews current year OCE strategy and makes suggestions for improvements to achieve desired outcomes. Identifies solutions to enable realization of OCE strategic outcomes. Partners with OCE team, OD, Spiritual Care and HR to identify opportunities to improve Houston Methodist Culture.
- Serves as part of an inter-professional team that creates and executes mission-driven events. Proactively and independently problem solves when challenges present themselves. Completes and updates the My Development Plan (MDP) on an ongoing basis. Ensures own career discussions occur with appropriate management.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree required
- Master's degree preferred
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Five years of experience in program and/or project management to include one year related to training; may consider HM employee with four years of experience in program and/or project management
- Training and class development experience preferred
