At Houston Methodist, the Supply Chain Supervisor position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Supply Chain management to support a safe, reliable, and cost-efficient supply replenishment operation. The position ensures the proper use and care of physical assets and resources; control expenses; manages customer relationships; works closely with Inventory/Periodic Automatic Replenishment (PAR) Coordinators and internal customers for the appropriate transition of supplies for PAR area changes and product conversions; and, assists in other department operations. The Supply Chain Supervisor position supervises team members that move throughout all areas of the hospital campus, contributing to staffing decisions such as hiring and terminating employment, coaching and counseling employees on work related performance. In addition, this position is responsible for budget compliance and assisting in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure a safe and effective work environment.

EDUCATION
- High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.)
- Associate’s degree preferred
EXPERIENCE
- Three years of previous experience in a customer service role or Healthcare, Supply Chain or Materials Management, in which two years were in a role with progressive leadership responsibility
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
- Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating a personal computer or hand-held device for completing transportation-specific or job-related functions through the use of MS Office applications to perform moderate to complex analyses of inventory data, product data, and project costs; and, manage product replacement/transition.
- Critical thinking with the ability to offer practical solutions to relative items managed.
- Has a working knowledge of Supply Chain Management operations and resources (software; hardware; human) to appropriately maneuver resources to mitigate obstacles and achieve goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Coaches, develops, trains and mentors team members to build competency of skills, knowledge and abilities to identify and resolve problems, make sound decision and achieve business objectives.
- Works collaboratively with the other Supply Chain Management staff/teams to ensure the supplies are ordered, received, inventoried, pulled and deployed effectively.
- Builds relationships with clinical partners to foster positive interactions and meet expected outcomes for services provided.
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversees replenishment activities of perpetual and periodic automated replenishment inventories to ensure inventory levels are maintained to meet customer demand while mitigating stock-outs and expirations. Oversees the processes, which include the ordering, staging, delivery, retrieval, and cleaning, of specified portable equipment (e.g. code carts).
- Organizes the work flow, pro-actively problem-solves, anticipating needs, managing multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision. Role-models skills, through peer-to-peer accountability, to contribute towards improving department efficiencies and customer satisfaction.
- Serves as the initial point of contact for customer concerns escalating issues when appropriate. Provides reports to management of needs, issues to be addressed, and all important information necessary to ensure department success.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Reviews, conducts rounding and analyzes operational reports to identify deficiencies and productivity standards and appropriately assigns work to staff.
- Collects relevant data, compiles information for management decisions and ensures the successful execution of department services using appropriate resources. Reconciles data to determine if department improvements are achieved.
- Oversees and maintains the recall process managed by the Risk and Safety Management Alert System application
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintains and reports key financial and/or operational metrics processes as directed by management. Utilizes efficient and cost-effective work practices with department resources and supplies, manages time effectively and prioritizes department daily tasks. Monitors and manages staffing levels to meet department demands, minimizing incidental overtime.
- Oversees department operations to ensure integrity of the on-hand physical inventory and supports the efficient resolution of recall and back order issues impacting customers.
- Accountable for processes and results of the inventory in the various inventory business units throughout the hospital.
GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supports hospital and department goals and offers innovative solutions through participation in department projects. Assumes responsibility for self-growth and development by participating in in-services programs and continuing education. Identifies opportunities and takes action to build strategic relationships between one’s area and other areas, teams, departments, and units to achieve business goals.
- Works with management to identify opportunities for product substitution, cost reduction, product trends and comparison with other units.
- Maintains current knowledge of industry practices and improves operations by identifying trends and recommending action. Contributes ideas towards improving the efficiency and effectiveness of department processes.
