This is a one-year paid fellowship program to provide further education, training, didactic instruction, and mentorship for newly graduated Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) in a multisite clinical setting providing high-quality mental health care to a highly diverse population of patients seeking psychiatric services across the continuum of care.

EDUCATION
- Master’s degree or higher from an accredited school of Nursing and graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioners program
EXPERIENCE
- Two years of previous RN practice
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required
- RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure - Texas Board of Nursing_PSV Compact Licensure – Must obtain permanent Texas license within 60 days (if establishing Texas residency) and
- APRN Acute Care state license and
- Magnet ANCC-recognized Acute Care practitioner certification and
- BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association and
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association and
- AP - Prescriptive Authority - Texas Board of Nursing - Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation_PSV and
- DEA - Narcotics License (DEA) - Drug Enforcement Administration_PSV within 6 months

- Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations
- Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security

- Demonstrates advanced assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning & interventions in the field of psychiatry
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides patient care in assigned department by assessing and diagnosing clinical conditions, developing treatment plans and documenting appropriately.
- Uses therapeutic communication to establish a relationship with patients, families and interprofessional health care team to collaborate on the plan of care.
- Communicates in an active, positive and effective manner to all interprofessional team members and reports pertinent patient care and family data in a comprehensive and unbiased manner, listens and responds to the ideas of others.
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide direct patient care services, including performing physical assessments, diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions, prescribing medications, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing and implementing treatment plans in their respective specialty area(s).
- Advocates on patient/family’s behalf to identify and resolve clinical and ethical concerns, utilizing appropriate resources.
- Obtains superior patient satisfaction scores via standard patient satisfaction survey tool.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs essential functions of assessment, diagnosing, treatment, and management of patients in assigned setting, including accurate and timely documentation, intake assessments, treatment planning and discharge planning, as appropriate.
- Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
- Actively participates in interprofessional team meetings, case discussions, and care planning. Engages in team based interdisciplinary care.
