At Houston Methodist, the Sr. Service Line Clinical Value Analysis role collaborates with clinical teams throughout the system and multiple departments to advance the strategic vision of a clinically driven supply chain organization, supported by evidence-based evaluation of clinical supplies, contract adherence, standardization efforts, and cost containment initiatives. As a clinical expert within supply chain, the role helps to translate the tenets of cost efficiency and quality/outcomes improvement to optimally meet the supply needs of our patients, physicians, and clinicians in a financially responsible manner.

Through facilitating and leading value analysis committees, the position will execute the role through direct involvement of clinical leader engagement in the value analysis process to improve the outcomes of product selection and implementation. This position provides a process to engage clinical end-users as stewards of organizational resources, utilizing evidence-based, objective data to determine the value of a product, capital purchase, and/or procedures. Leading initiatives with the clinical value analysis committees to evaluate the clinical and financial benefits from strategic sourcing initiatives, new products, and trials. Supports backorder and patient safety incident resolution with identification and recommendation of clinically acceptable alternatives. Leverages the culture of continuous improvement to enhance and develop the value analysis program.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, nursing degree highly preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred

EXPERIENCE
  • Five (5) years of patient care experience in a hospital clinical environment and/or previous value analysis experience with a minimum of three (3) years of experience for internal candidates
  • Previous experience as a skilled facilitator
  • Minimum of three to five years of clinical nursing (preferably in-hospital) experience preferred
  • Leadership experience preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Preferred
  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) and
  • Certification in value analysis or a clinical specialty

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Leads Value Analysis initiatives. Directs and facilitates Clinical Value Analysis teams through project and meeting management, public speaking, and executive-level communication. Demonstrates confidence in product-related discussions with clinicians, physicians, and executives.
  • Through strategic collaboration and mentorship, this role supports professional growth and alignment with organizational objectives, while serving as a liaison between departments to ensure the utilization of value-based products and service utilization. Supports credentialing, documentation, and compliance for new items.
  • Committee Facilitation and Engagement. Develops meeting agendas, facilitates value analysis and service line committee sessions, and prioritizes initiatives through inclusive stakeholder collaboration. Leverages skills in negotiation, team building, and conflict resolution.
  • Supports professional development and market insight by actively participating in scholarly and industry-related activities, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of healthcare market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies. Facilitates education across committees and councils to maintain clinical and operational excellence.

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Conducts product and service line review. Manages thorough evaluation of products, services, and equipment for clinical service lines. Balances safety, outcomes, and cost efficiency while leveraging critical thinking and independent analysis. Makes time-sensitive decisions in response to emergent clinical issues.
  • Oversees unbiased clinical trials and product evaluations. Ensures adherence to regulatory standards, supports documentation requirements, and promotes outcomes-based evaluation.
  • Drive project implementation and change management. Leads product conversions, service implementations, and clinical initiatives. Effectively manages change through strong communication, team facilitation, and a forward-thinking mindset. Guides others through implementation planning using proven change management strategies.
  • Maintains effective vendor relationships and stakeholder relationships and participates in strategic reviews. Conducts clinical rounds and collaborates directly with physicians and nursing staff to ensure product decisions meet frontline and organizational needs. Communicates changes and supply-related issues to executive and clinical leaders.

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Conducts evidence-based research and evaluation through literature reviews, preparation of comprehensive product and technology assessments, and presents findings using evidence-based methodology. Supports informed, clinically sound decision-making.
  • Leads cross-functional teams in designing clinical protocols and standardizing product/service use across departments. Ensures consistency, compliance, and alignment with clinical evidence and end-user needs.
  • Ensures that all selected products and services comply with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Investigates safety concerns and leads resolution planning in partnership with relevant stakeholders, ensuring safety and compliance.

FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Utilizes clinical expertise and financial insight to analyze data on utilization and costs, supporting cost containment efforts and minimizing waste. Develops complex financial models and reporting tools to assess return on investment, cost avoidance, and value. Execute upon an annual savings work plan through leading Clinical Value Analysis committees to achieve optimal patient outcomes and financial stewardship in the evaluation and implementation of medical supplies and services
  • Supports operational and capital budgeting, cost benchmarking, and evaluation of new technologies using financial and clinical metrics.
  • Leverages internal analytics and external databases to identify cost-saving opportunities. Collaborates with Group Purchasing Organizations to evaluate savings performance, measure outcomes, and align purchasing with system goals.

  • Drives implementation of clinical best practices, innovation, and evidence-based advancements. Applies current clinical knowledge and industry literature to promote operational improvements and enhanced care delivery.
