Marketing Technology Product Strategist (SEO/AEO/GEO)
- Job Ref:
- JR-7039
- Job Shift:
- Day
- Job Type:
- Full Time
The candidate owns organic visibility across the health system's digital presence — traditional SEO, SEM coordination, and the emerging discipline of Answer Engine Optimization (AEO/GEO), which governs how Houston Methodist is surfaced and cited by AI assistants including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews.
Houston Methodist is hiring a search strategist to own how one of the nation's top academic medical centers is found — by patients, by search engines, and increasingly, by AI. This role spans technical SEO, SEM alignment, and the emerging frontier of Answer Engine Optimization (AEO): ensuring our physicians, services, and expertise are surfaced accurately and prominently when patients ask AI assistants for care guidance.
• Hands-on SEO including enterprise/multi-site environments (healthcare a plus, not required)
• Strong analytics proficiency — GA4 required; Adobe Customer Journey Analytics (CJA) a plus
• Technical SEO depth: crawl analysis, log file review, Core Web Vitals, JavaScript SEO, JSON-LD schema implementation
• AEO/GEO working knowledge — how LLMs retrieve, rank, and cite content; entity SEO; answer-formatted content structuring. Proof of active experimentation matters more than years of titled experience.
• Working SEM experience — Google Ads/Bing, campaign structure, landing page optimization
• Tool fluency: Google Search Console, Ahrefs, Moz, SEO Clarity, Conductor (or similar enterprise SEO platform), Screaming Frog, Looker Studio or equivalent
• Google Business Profile management and local SEO optimization — experience managing multi-location profiles, local pack performance, and citation consistency at scale
• Page performance fluency — Google Lighthouse, Core Web Vitals diagnostics, and ability to partner with dev on remediation
• Technical literacy: HTML/CSS, JS fundamentals, CMS platforms
• Demonstrated project management experience — ability to run multiple concurrent initiatives with cross-functional stakeholders, defined milestones, and on-time delivery
• Very Strong presentation and communication skills — ability to translate technical search concepts into executive-ready narratives for non-technical clinical and marketing leadership; comfortable presenting to director and VP-level audiences
