The DeBakey and Heart Vascular Center at Houston Methodist is seeking a visionary Director for the Center for Women's Heart Health. This role is integral to the Division of Cardiovascular Prevention. The vision to be a global leader into pioneer changes women's cardiovascular health setting high standards in patient centered initiatives, cutting edge research and education. Key responsibilities encompass strategic planning, clinical care enhancement, research leadership, educational program development, and community engagement.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate, ideally at the associate professor level or higher, with a strong background in women's cardiovascular health. This pivotal position includes an endowed chair and additional resources dedicated to launching a fellowship program in women's health as well extensive institution resources for building a robust research program. Success in this role requires strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Aim to streamline clinical care by adopting a personalized approach that factors in each woman's unique needs, recognizing sex and gender as pivotal factors.
  • Developed collaborative clinical pathways with preventive cardiology, advanced lipid disorders, cardio-oncology, and high-risk obstetrics and other clinical stakeholders
  • Leveraging technology and enhanced telehealth capabilities, we will ensure seamless access to compassionate, state-of-the-art care, empowering women to take control of their cardiovascular well-being.

Leading-edge Research

  • Within our Women's Heart Center, embark on groundbreaking research to deepen our understanding of sex and gender differences in cardiovascular disease.
  • Establishing sex-specific biobanks and registries and employing diverse data for research initiatives.
  • Collaboration among basic scientists, clinical investigators, and healthcare providers will push the boundaries of knowledge, translating findings into tangible improvements in women's heart health.

Comprehensive Education

  • In the realm of medical education, we will integrate sex differences in cardiovascular disease into the curriculum for medical students, residents, and fellows to shape compassionate healers with a profound understanding of women's unique cardiovascular challenges.
  • Develop specialized training and fellowships in women's heart health to empower the next generation of physicians to be trailblazers, armed with cutting-edge knowledge, and dedicated to providing exemplary care to women throughout their lives.

Key Responsibilities

As the Director for the Center for Women's Heart Health, your key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and execution of a comprehensive strategic plan for the Center, encompassing research, patient care, education, and community engagement.
  • Spearheading groundbreaking research initiatives focused on women's cardiovascular health, fostering collaboration among researchers, clinicians, and scientists.
  • Lead the clinical team to enhance the quality of patient care by promoting gender-specific cardiovascular diagnostics and treatments, ensuring that women receive the highest standard of care.
  • Developing educational programs and community outreach initiatives to raise awareness about women's heart health, both within our institution and in the wider community.
  • Advocating for policies and practices that prioritize women's cardiovascular health at local, national, and international levels.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • An MD or PhD in a relevant field (Cardiology, Cardiovascular Epidemiology, Women's Health, or related).
  • Board certification in Cardiology or a related specialty.
  • A track record of significant research achievements in women's cardiovascular health.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in academic or healthcare settings.
  • A profound commitment to patient-centered care and equity in healthcare.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
