Houston Methodist Physician Organization is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pulmonologist to join our established group of three pulmonary physicians in Sugar Land, TX. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in developing and contributing to the growth of the hospital's lung nodule program.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert clinical care to patients with a wide range of pulmonary conditions, including but not limited to lung cancer, interstitial lung diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and sleep disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients based on their diagnosis, stage of disease, and overall health status.
- Collaborate with other specialists, including thoracic surgeons, radiologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, oncology nurse navigators and respiratory therapists, to provide multidisciplinary care to patients with lung cancer.
- Actively attends and participates in thoracic tumor board and lung nodule multidisciplinary conferences.
- Participate in the development and implementation of the hospital's lung cancer screening program and work towards establishing a comprehensive lung cancer care program.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and families regarding their condition, treatment options, and self-management techniques.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including performance improvement projects and clinical research, to enhance patient outcomes and advance the field of pulmonary medicine.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in the electronic medical record, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Collaborate with other members of the pulmonary team to provide seamless and coordinated care to patients.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in pulmonary medicine through ongoing professional development and education.
Qualifications:
- Medical degree from an accredited medical school
- Board certification in Pulmonary Medicine
- Proven clinical experience in managing a wide range of pulmonary conditions
- Strong interest in developing and contributing to a lung cancer program
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment
- Commitment to patient-centered care and evidence-based practice
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage time efficiently
