Last week, Houston Methodist Hospital's Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer, Roberta Schwartz, Ph.D., announced that Houston Methodist Hospital received another five-star rating from the Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS) Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating.
"I'm proud of this high assessment because it proves our commitment to providing a high-quality patient experience to our patients," Schwartz stated in Houston Methodist's weekly newsletter directed to its employees. She continued, "We are one of the top hospitals in the country because of the work you do every day."
CMS's overall star ratings are determined by how well a hospital performs across different areas of quality, such as treating heart attacks and pneumonia, readmission rates, and safety of care. Houston Methodist's patients and their families can use these ratings, listed on the Hospital Compare website, to learn about the quality of nearby hospitals, directly compare facilities in their area side-by-side, and ask important questions about care quality when visiting a new hospital.
In addition to Houston Methodist Hospital receiving another five-star rating this year, Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital, Houston Methodist West Hospital, Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital, and Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital have all received Five Stars this year from CMS for Overall Hospital Quality.
