News From the Houston Methodist Community

As we usher in the new year, Houston Methodist is leveraging technology to enhance care. Set to open in 2025, Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital (HMCY) will debut its fully integrated Smart Hospital. As a result, HMCY was featured on the cover of HealthTech Magazine, a leading industry publication exploring technology and health care issues.

From virtual care to wayfinding and integrated voice response in the call center, the smart hospital at HMCY, and soon-to-be across our other campuses, uses cutting-edge technology to create a more harmonious care ecosystem for the community.

HealthTech Magazine’s cover story, “Smart Hospital Anatomy: Innovations in Patient Care,” features quotes from Trent Fullin, CEO at Houston Methodist, Jim Francis, VP of technology and shared services, and from Murat Uralkan, director of innovation at the HM Center for Innovation.

“We think of Cypress as the landing point, not the departure point,” stated Murat Uralkan. “We know that we want to lead medicine with innovation. Cypress gives us a unique opportunity to implement everything we’re working on in one place without retrofitting an existing facility.”

HMCY's smart hospital reflects a growing trend in healthcare: combining technology and innovations seamlessly to support the entire patient journey.
