At Houston Methodist, National Doctors’ Day is a longstanding tradition that recognizes the physicians who lead medicine through clinical excellence, innovation and compassion. Since 1997, Doctors’ Day has also included the presentation of the John W. Overstreet, M.D. Award, one of Houston Methodist’s most prestigious physician honors.
2026 John W. Overstreet, M.D. Award Recipients
This year, Houston Methodist honored two outstanding physicians whose careers reflect the highest standards of the medical profession.
Michael J. Klebuc, M.D. is a board certified plastic surgeon with internationally recognized expertise in facial reanimation surgery and microsurgery. He serves as the Eva Lynn and John S. Dunn, Jr. New Century Chair in Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery and is an associate professor of Clinical Plastic Surgery at Houston Methodist. Dr. Klebuc is widely respected for both his technical excellence and his leadership in advancing reconstructive care.
Clinton H. Doerr, M.D., FACCP, DABSM is board certified in pulmonary and critical care medicine and sleep medicine. He serves as medical director of intermediate care units at Houston Methodist Hospital, as well as the Houston Methodist Sleep Center, and chairs the Medicine MSQM Peer Review Committee. Dr. Doerr is known for combining clinical expertise with a strong commitment to patient centered care.
These honors are based on peer nomination letters recognizing physicians who exemplify excellence, professionalism and compassion.
Lifetime Achievement Recognition
During the Doctors’ Day ceremony, Timothy Boone, M.D., dean of the Texas A&M School of Engineering Medicine, received the Distinguished Physician Association Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing more than 20 years of service and lasting contributions to medicine and medical education.
