News From the Houston Methodist Community

On October 1, Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital changed its name to Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital to better reflect its long-standing connection to its community.

"Baytown, the largest city in the region, serves as the center of this fast-growing area, and our hospital is expanding to better meet the needs of our region. Our new name clearly identifies our location and aligns with our commitment to deliver the best possible care to our community." - David Bernard, CEO of Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital

Houston Methodist Baytown opened in 1948 as San Jacinto Memorial Hospital. The hospital became part of Houston Methodist in 1983 and has taken pride in providing comprehensive, unsurpassed care to the region. The current hospital expansion includes a new outpatient center, increased number of beds and a new emergency department. “As one of the area’s top employers, our dedicated team of physicians, nurses and staff is proud to care for our growing community,” said Bernard.

Two other Houston Methodist hospitals are changing their names to better align with their communities. Houston Methodist St. John Hospital will change to Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital, and Houston Methodist St. Catherine Hospital will change to Houston Methodist Continuing Care Hospital.
