Since 1977, Houston Methodist Administrative Fellowship Program has offered a select group of outstanding people an opportunity to participate in health care at the highest levels. Nearly 60 alumni of the program have gone on to become leaders in their chosen fields.

A former administrative fellow with Houston Methodist, J. Peyton Elliott currently holds the position of Vice President of Operations at Houston Methodist West Hospital as well as the preceptor for the Administrative Fellowship Program. He has over 12 years of health care management experience in various non-profit hospital systems in Texas.

In his current role his responsibilities include strategic and operational oversight for Imaging Services, Breast Center, Cancer Center, Facilities Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Food and Nutrition Services, Environmental Services, Laboratory, Medical Records, Physical Therapy, Supply Chain Management, Wound Care, Patient Access, Financial Management and Decision Support team. He serves as the business practices officer with responsibilities to protect company resources, manages compliance with standard operating procedures, and implementation of organizational best practices. Also, he serves on the system’s CFO Council with responsibility for campus budget and decision support responsibility.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Elliott held the position of Director, Office of the President. He has also served in leadership capacities during his time at Methodist at the flagship hospital in the Texas Medical Center as well as Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital.

Mr. Elliott is a member of the Texas Hospital Association leadership development council and a co-chair of the American College of Healthcare Executives Southeast Texas Chapter’s program committee. He also is a member of the board of governors for the Katy Area Economic Development Council. He holds a BBA in Finance from Texas Christian University and an M.S. in Hospital Administration from Trinity University. He is married to Holly and they have two children, Claire and Drew.
